4.28,76 for 1500m was a disappointment, even though it was just 0.09 seconds off from my PR. Why? Because I know I could have done so much better. My workouts have been fast and I know it is inside me. But in the race, I was afraid to go for it early enough. The pace felt easy but I knew the girls I was running against had PRs so much faster than mine, so a tiny voice in my head told me I wasn’t supposed to beat them. I made a move just 500m before the finish line, but it was too late. I felt fresh after the race, and I was mad at myself… And then I did a long cool down to actually cool down my anger.. However, if I look the positive side, at this point of the season I’m running a 1500m time that has been usual in the previous seasons when I have been peaking – that means the best is yet to come!

Next weekend it’s Payton Jordan and finally I get to steeple!

Photos from MW Champs that were held in Albuquerque, New Mexico this weekend. Finished my short indoor season with two top3 finishes (1. in 5k and 3. in 3k) and now it feels nice to move the gaze towards the approaching outdoor season when one has some bling around her neck – ha! Racing in altitude is still strange to me (Albuquerque is at ~ a mile high) and I am trying to accept the fact that the times are much slower. The races were rather tactical than speedy, but it was nice to try new ways to race. I am satisfied with the victory at the 5k but disappointed with the result after yesterday’s 3k: altitude, doubling, and my race tactic were all bit too much and I was unable to respond when the move was made. However, I accept that there were two girls stronger than me yesterday, and remember that I was the strongest on Friday. So happy for my teammate (& future roomie♡) Brenna who got 2. in the 5k and 2. in the 3k! Overall, we had a really good weekend with several great performances, Go Broncos!! Even though I raced indoors in the middle of training and without actual tapering, it feels good to get a short break from racing and get some good weeks of training in before the first track meets on April.

Happy National Pancake Day Everyone! I am just going to make a nice stack of pancakes for breakfast….;)
